About me
I’ve successfully styled men and women for more than a decade. I provide personal image styling solutions to CEOs, entrepreneurs, performers, sports men/women, photographic shoots, wedding guests, brides, high achievers and people who need change in their career and lifestyle.
Styling - you could even say that it’s in my blood. One grandmother was a hat-maker and artist, the other specialised in wedding dresses, and my mother is a talented seamstress.
After formally training at De Montfort University, I was perfectly placed to follow the family’s creative path.
I graduated in 1992 with a BSc (Hons) in Fashion Technology with Business, and went on to work as a fabric technologist and garment buyer for the fashion industry.
My training and assignments gave me the opportunity to deal with major fashion organisations like Marks & Spencer and the Arcadia Group. As European manager, I also went on to work within the software industry, travelling throughout Europe and the United States.
As a result of my commercial experience and styling in my spare time, I was ready to launch my business and founded Melanie Sarah in 2005. My combination of styling experience, exceptional formal training and an industry background make me absolutely unique to the UK. I am based in West Berkshire.
I’m a regular studio guest on BBC Radio, providing live topical discussions on all aspects of image styling and hosted by celebrity TV and radio presenters.
I also have a passion for British clothing and accessories which are designed and made in the United Kingdom. Great customer service in the world of retailing gets my attention too.
One of my favourite English bespoke shoemakers kindly sent me a few words this season:
“There's an old Army saying that goes “always buy good shoes and a good bed, because if you’re not in one you’re in the other”, and I really believe that owning a decent pair of shoes is essential. Shoes give you confidence because people often judge a Man or Woman by their shoes. Also they take more of a pounding than any other item of clothing, so you really get your moneys worth when you buy a good pair.”

From time to time I’m contacted by school and college leavers asking for advice about further education in fashion and textiles - it’s a pleasure to help.
For you, as your personal image stylist, it’s about empowerment through easy wardrobe decisions – even after we’ve worked together!
